Empower Mental & Physical Disabilities
Replacement of Existing Rehabus. Physical handicapped people, especially the wheelchair users, who are difficult to walk and inconvenience to take the public transport, are the beneficiaries under the scheme from Hong Kong Federation of Handicapped Youth.

“Thanks for the fund by Operation Santa Claus, we can now provide rehabus pick up service for those physical handicapped people who take part in our programs. The participants would take the rehabus to and from the activity venues, which is an essential and importance service for those in needs” says Donald Ng, Center Manager of Hong Kong Federation of Handicapped Youth.

“Most of the public transports in Hong Kong are still inaccessible for the disabled. This situation affects the disabled to take part in social activities. The shuttle service of the rehabus provides an opportunity for the disabled to participant in indoor/outdoor programs which would help them to expand their social network and integrate into community”.

復康巴士接送傷健人士

香港傷殘青年協會推行更換現有復康巴士計劃，旨在服務肢體殘疾人士，尤其是為行動不便或難以乘搭公共交通工具的輪椅使用者提供支援。

香港傷殘青年協會中心經理吳浩揚表示：「衷心感謝愛心聖誕大行動的資助，我們得以提供復康巴士接載服務，方便肢體殘疾人士乘搭復康巴士往返活動中心，這對有需要人士而言是不可或缺的關鍵服務。」

「香港大部分公共交通仍缺乏完善的無障礙設施。這嚴重限制了殘疾人士參與社交活動的機會。復康巴士的接送服務為傷健人士創造了參與室內外活動的可能性，有助於他們擴展社交圈子，並更有效地融入社區。」
Caring for cancer patients
When he was 55, Tak-ming found out he had stage IV nasopharyngeal cancer. The diagnosis left him depressed and feeling extremely isolated; he also suffered from severe side-effects during treatment.

Luckily, fellow hospital patients introduced Tak-ming to Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre. It was here that he learnt the importance of using dietary supplements and also joined group relaxation and meditation sessions. Tak-ming’s sister Rebecca said the positive changes in her brother were obvious, describing him as more ‘optimistic’ and ‘closer to his family’.

In 2017, an OSC grant allowed Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre to provide emotional and psychosocial support for patients and their families on their journey to recovery. The Centre’s invaluable work continues to help people in need and provides much needed advice and guidance.

關顧癌症病患者

德明先生在55歲時確診患上第四期鼻咽癌。此一診斷令他陷入抑鬱與極度孤立；治療過程中，他亦承受著嚴重副作用。

慶幸的是，透過病友的引薦，德明認識了銘琪癌症關顧中心。在中心的幫助下，他開始重視膳食補充品，並積極參與了團體放鬆和冥想課程。德明的妹妹Rebecca表示，哥哥的轉變令人欣喜，他變得「更樂觀」，並且「與家人關係更為親密」。

愛心聖誕大行動於2017年資助使銘琪癌症關顧中心，使中心能持續為患者及其家屬提供情感和社會心理支援，一路支持他們邁向康復。該中心具非凡價值的工作，持續地為有需要人士提供幫助，並送上急切所需的建議與指引。
Helping children with Thalassaemia
Five-and-a-half-year-old Hei-hei was born with Thalassaemia Major. When his father Samuel learned that Hei-hei would have to receive lifelong blood transfusions, the whole family became worried, anxious and uncertain about Hei-hei’s future. Luckily, Samuel came across the Children’s Thalassaemia Foundation.

With help from the Foundation, the family raised enough money to research potential blood marrow donations. Eventually, Hei-hei underwent a blood marrow transplant after successfully finding a matching donor.

In 2015, OSC provided the Foundation with medical funds to support, test and operate on child patients with transfusion-dependent thalassaemia. Without this funding, Hei-hei might not be with us today. The family would like to express their gratitude for all the support and help they received.

幫助地中海貧血兒童

年僅五歲半的希希，一出生便確診患有重型地中海貧血。當父親Samuel得知希希需要終生依賴輸血，全家上下對希希的未來皆感到擔憂、焦慮與茫然。所幸，Samuel聯絡上了地中海貧血兒童基金。

在基金的協助下，希希一家成功籌集了充足資金，進行潛在骨髓捐贈者的配對研究。最終，在成功配對捐贈者後，希希得以接受骨髓移植手術。

愛心聖誕大行動於2015年撥款提供醫療資金予基金會，用以支持、檢測及為患有輸血依賴型地中海貧血的兒童進行關鍵手術。若無此項資助，希希可能無法延續生命。希希的家人對所有支持和援助表達最誠摯的謝意。
Lasting Impact Delivered by OSC – Story of RainLily
Ms X was counselled at RainLily in April 2018. During her visit, she revealed she had been indecently assaulted by her doctor. She felt very uncomfortable talking about her experience; her doctor had touched her inappropriately during a recent examination and had neglected to ask a female member of staff to accompany him during the examination. Ms X didn’t want to report her experience to the police because she was worried about testifying in court. However, she felt humiliated by what had happened and wanted to find out what legal action could be taken so that the doctor would be held responsible.

The counselor suggested that Ms X file a complaint through the Equal Opportunities Commission (E.O.C), with the help of the DLA Piper’s legal representation. Ms X was relieved to find out that she qualified for pro-bono legal service and wouldn’t have to face legal proceedings alone. The DLA Piper met with Ms X and suggested they send a letter on her behalf to the doctor, requesting for settlement in the form of an apology letter and monetary compensation. If the doctor refused, the lawyers would take the case to E.O.C.

Ms X agreed, so the lawyers wrote the letter and acted as a point of communication between the two parties throughout all of the settlement negotiations. The doctor accepted the terms of settlement and, fortunately, the case did not need to proceed to the E.O.C. Within a few months, the client received an apology letter and monetary compensation for all her previous medical appointments. DLA Piper’s professional help alleviated Ms X from having to handle any legal documents or communicate directly with the doctor. She felt the lawyer, and RainLily, helped her achieve justice and restore her dignity.

愛心聖誕大行動的持久影響：
風雨蘭故事

X女士於2018年4月前往風雨蘭尋求輔導。會面時，她披露了曾遭到醫生非禮的經歷。她對此事深感不安：其醫生在一次檢查中對她作出不當的觸碰行為，且未按規定要求女職員在場。X女士不願意報警，主要顧慮要在法庭上出庭作證。但她對所遭受的羞辱無法釋懷，希望能尋求法律途徑，追究該醫生的責任。

輔導員建議X女士在DLA Piper律師事務所的法律代表協助下，透過平等機會委員會（EOC）提出投訴。X女士得知她符合免費法律服務的資格，且毋須獨自面對法律程序後感到鬆一口氣。DLA Piper律師會見了X女士，建議以她的名義向該醫生發信，要求以道歉信和金錢賠償的形式達成和解。如果該醫生拒絕，律師將把案件提交給EOC。

在X女士同意後，律師隨即發函，並在整個和解談判過程中充當雙方的主要聯繫點。該醫生最終接受了和解條件，所幸案件毋須提交至平等機會委員會（EOC）。數月之內，X女士不僅收到道歉信，亦獲得了她所有先前醫療費用的賠償金。DLA Piper 提供的專業支援，讓X女士無須親自處理任何法律文件或與醫生直接接觸。她認為律師和風雨蘭的介入，助她伸張了正義，重拾了尊嚴。
Bringing Clear Visions to Elderly People

Mr. Chan has a profound love for gardening that is his source of happiness and purpose in life. Unfortunately, he suffered from cataracts and optic disc edema for years causing blurry vision, which obstructed him from enjoying his favourite hobby. Despite the referral to a public hospital for further treatment, the waiting time is excessively long.

Saint Barnabas’ Society and Home became a blessing to provide eye surgery service under its project Regain Crystal Clear Vision to him. After undergoing surgery, he expressed that he regained his vision and found joy in life again, allowing him to continue finding pleasure in gardening activities, and that his self-care abilities have been improved too.

An Operation Santa Claus grant was a favourable support to Saint Barnabas’ Society and Home in 2022. The poor and homeless in Hong Kong benefited from its services by providing free eye examinations and treatment, primarily elderly, and glasses when needed, so that they can restore clear eyesight and cope with daily living.

為長者帶來清晰視野

陳先生對園藝有著深厚的熱愛，這是他快樂和人生意義的來源。然而，多年來他飽受白內障和視神經乳頭水腫之苦，導致視力模糊，令他無法盡情享受這份摯愛。儘管獲轉介至公立醫院接受進一步治療，卻面臨漫長的輪候時間。

聖巴拿巴會之家透過其「Regain Crystal Clear Vision」項目，為他提供了眼科手術。陳先生於術後表示，他不僅重拾了清晰視力，亦重獲了生活中的喜悅，得以繼續投入園藝，並且自我照顧能力也得到提升。

愛心聖誕大行動於2022年撥款資助了聖巴拿巴會之家，讓機構能為香港的貧困人士和無家者提供免費眼科檢查與治療。這項服務以長者為主要對象，並在有需要時提供眼鏡，藉此協助他們重獲清晰視力，從容應對日常生活。
